The elephant illustation is closer to brown than the gray they say it is. The black chameleon is closer to dark brown than black.
Yes, the storyline is wonderful and the illustrations are lovely. I thought it would be a meaningful way to help them learn their colors.
I bought this book for my young grandchildren after reading the reviews. And then it notes, "But in autumn the leaf turned yellow --and so did the chameleon," but the chameleon is a bright orange in the book.
However, the colors are misidentified. The book says that the chameleons "on lemons are yellow," but the color in the book is light green.
Plus, they say "Goldfish are red," yet the color of goldfish--even in this book--is more orange than red. So this book is sitting in a closet and I wasted $10 on it.
i LOVE this book.the chameleon is having self-worth issues, but with a friend's help, they feel better about themselves, and don't have to be alone:)
I love Leo Lioni and this is one of his prettiest books and is a favorite of my children. The artwork is beautiful and the story touching. I just bought a second copy because our original one is getting worn out.
This is a great book for people who want more than childish drivel to read to their infants.
OK, a lizard can't come up with a consistent color, but when he meets up with an older lizard, they decide to live the rainbow life together. All good and well, except- goldfish are freaking ORANGE, not red. There needs to be a reprint.
